The musical phenomenon that is Menopause the Musical has seen performances all around the world, including many stages on and off of Broadway. However, it was never officially part of a Broadway season.
The show debuted at the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival in May 2001 and ran for two weeks in an un-air conditioned theatre in Florida. The show was sold out for both days and received glowing reviews from those that attended.
The success of this debut prompted a move to Las Vegas to make its first full production debut, where it has been running ever since. In 2003, the productions moved to Chicago, followed by Melbourne Australia in 2004 and London’s West End in 2005. As of 2018, more than 11 million people had seen some version of the play worldwide. It also spawned multiple international tours across Europe, Canada and Latin America.
Despite its immense popularity outside of New York City's theatrical district, Menopause the Musical never made it onto Broadway proper. That said, it has made appearances at numerous locations within the city's limits such as New York City Center and Town Hall Theater among others. These shows were always well-received by audiences but did not go so far as representation on a complete season roster.
